Cypress Mandela Training Center, U.C. California at Berkeley to Receive Federal Funding to Support Training Programs

Berkeley Community College to Receive DOE Funds for Development of Basic Skills Classes
07/07/09Today, Congresswoman Barbara Lee (D-Oakland) announced that the Peralta Community College District has been selected to receive $2 million in funding from the U.S. Department of Education (DOE). The funding is being made available through DOE's Strengthening Institution Grant Program and will be used to develop basic skills classes in math and writing and to implement an assessment-tracking system at Berkeley City College.

Congresswoman Lee to Tour Fruitvale Transit Village with Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood
07/01/09Congresswoman Barbara Lee (D-Oakland) and U.S. Department of Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood will tour the Fruitvale Transit Village located at 3401 East 12th Street in Oakland on Thursday, July 2, 2009 at 11 a.m. The tour will highlight the work that has been done in the Ninth Congressional District to build transit-oriented developments consisting of housing, restaurants and shops along the BART transportation corridor.
