Congresswoman Barbara Lee Releases Statement on White House Initiative to Increase Solar Access for All Americans

Oakland, CA – Following the Administration’s announcement of a new initiative to increase solar access to all Americans, Congresswoman Lee released this statement:

“Last week’s announcement to increase solar access for all Americans is a bold step in the right direction toward a more sustainable America. This initiative will help decrease energy bills while creating good-paying jobs and investing in our sustainable energy future.

By increasing access to solar energy, we expand economic and educational opportunities for all Americans, especially communities of color and those who lack affordable access to sustainable energy.

In addition, the solar industry is one of the fastest growing industries in our nation with a strong presence in the East Bay.  Initiatives such as this one are crucial to the development of green technologies and our 21st century workforce.
