Congresswoman Lee Applauds Presidential Action on Immigration

Oakland, CA – Following President Obama’s announcement of expanded executive action on immigration reform, Congresswoman Lee released this statement:

“I applaud President Obama for this bold action to keep families together.

It has been more than 500 days since the Senate passed bipartisan comprehensive immigration reform and the House Republican leadership has refused to allow a vote on the legislation.

The time is now to act.

Where Congress has failed to act, I am glad to see President Obama take action in support of our national interests and family values.

The 113th Congress has two weeks left in session, I hope Speaker Boehner will allow a vote on comprehensive immigration reform legislation (H.R. 15), which I am co-sponsoring, to finish the work President Obama begun this evening.”
