Congresswoman Barbara Lee Announces $12.8 Million HUD Grants Awarded to District
Oakland, CA - Today, Congresswoman Barbara Lee announced that the Cities of Oakland, Alameda, San Leandro, Albany, Emeryville, and Piedmont received grants from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development totaling $12,848,957.
Under HUD’s Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program, Albany, Emeryville and Piedmont will receive $196,925 for jurisdictional projects and homeowner rehabilitation projects. Oakland will receive $6,981,948. The District will also receive $25,000 for Fair Housing Counseling and Tenant/Landlord services for constituents living in the awarded cities.
In addition, Alameda & San Leandro will receive $325,750 for projects that will finance construction of new affordable housing projects under HUD’s HOME Consortium program. In Oakland, the city will receive $2,107,060 in HOME grants to address its housing crisis and $2,503,168 in HOPWA funding to benefit low-incomes living with AIDS. Two Emergency Solutions Grants totaling $709,106 will support rapid housing programs in Alameda, San Leandro, and Oakland.

Congress must assist families in need of affordable housing and ensure critical investments are made to preserve affordable housing programs to address the housing crisis in the East Bay and communities around our nation,” said Congresswoman Lee.
