Congresswoman Lee Welcomes the Opening of the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation’s 2020 Virtual Legislative Conference
WASHINGTON, D.C. - Congresswoman Barbara Lee released the following statement on the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation’s 2020 Annual Legislative Conference, where she will serve as an honorary co-host for two panel discussions in the first year of the conference’s virtual programming due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
“This year’s Annual Legislative Conference will be extremely unique, like many other things taking place this year due to COVID-19. However, that does not change the goals and objectives of the month, which is to address some of the most pressing issues that plague the Black community. This year’s ALC theme, “Now is Our Time,” represents a pivotal moment in our nation’s history and we all must play a role. Now is also the time to recognize the work and impact of the largest Congressional Black Caucus (CBC) in history. Racial justice is at the forefront of our national discourse, and it’s crucial that we come together and begin laying the foundation for critical reforms that will improve our communities. I’m excited to gather with my colleagues from around the country to address the presence of Black men and women in the tech industry, and ways that we can address this country’s history of systemic racism and begin healing for future generations.”
Congresswoman Lee will participate in the following ALC panels as an honorary co-host:
