John Yarmuth Wager Bourbon On Louisville-Cal Women's Final Four Match-Up
U.S. Rep. John Yarmuth, D-3rd, and U.S. Rep. Barbara Lee D-9th, have placed a friendly wager on Sunday's NCAA Women’s Final Four match-up between the University of Louisville Cardinals and the University of California Golden Bears, according to Yarmuth’s office.
Congresswoman Lee is a graduate of Cal and represents the university in Congress. Congressman Yarmuth represents Louisville and the Cardinals.
If the Golden Bears win, Yarmuth said he will provide Lee with a bottle of Woodford Reserve bourbon and a Louisville Slugger baseball bat. If the Cardinals prevail, Lee will offer a gift basket of organic Numi Tea, Peet’s Coffee and Clif Bars.
“I’m so proud of California Golden Bears’ coach Lindsay Gottlieb for leading our team to the Final Four for the first time!” Lee said in a statement. “The young women in this squad are so impressive, and I’m looking forward to them handily beating Louisville. ... Go Bears!”
“The Cards have made a habit of knocking off higher-ranked teams, and I’m confident they’ll carry that through Sunday’s match-up,” Yarmuth said in a statement. “These young women thrive as underdogs, and I’m betting they’ll shock the world once again this weekend.”
