Barbara Lee Applauds Confirmation of Elena Kagan to Supreme Court

Washington, D.C. – Today, Congresswoman Barbara Lee (D-CA) released the following statement following the confirmation of Solicitor General Elena Kagan to the United States Supreme Court:

“Today I join my colleagues in applauding the Senate’s confirmation of Elena Kagan to the Supreme Court – only the 4th woman to hold this position.

“As the first woman Solicitor General of the United States and first woman to be dean of Harvard Law School, Elena Kagan brings with her a real-world understanding of how the law is applied in the lives of the American people.

"In addition, her service in all three branches of government equips her with the comprehensive understanding of our system of law and government that is particularly necessary for a Supreme Court Justice today.
