(Oakland, CA) – Congresswoman Barbara Lee (Oakland), a member of the Appropriations committee, who sits on the Labor, Health and Human Services, Education Subcommittee, the State Foreign Operations Subcommittee and is Vice Chair of the Legislative Branch Subcommittee, is hosting a bus tour on Monday, January 14, to highlight local programs that will receive federal funding this year.
Berkeley Mayor Tom Bates, Emeryville Mayor Ken Bukowski, Councilmember Nancy Nadel, Director of Chez Panisse Foundation Alice Waters, Alameda County Supervisor Keith Carson, Supervisor Nate Miley, Port of Oakland Executive Director Omar Benjamin, Peralta Community College District Chancellor Elihu Harris, Unity Council CEO Gilda Gonzalez, CEO, La Clinica de La Raza CEO Jane Garcia and other leaders will make remarks.
This event is open to press. The bus tour will begin at 8:45am on Monday, with stops in Oakland, Fruitvale, Emeryville, Berkeley and Hayward. Reporters wishing to ride on the bus should RSVP to cleve.mesidor@mail.house.gov. Reporters can also meet the bus tour at individual stops.
