Barbara Lee Reintroduces Resolution to Honor Social Workers on World Social Work Day
Washington, D.C. – Today, Congresswoman Barbara Lee reintroduced a resolution marking March 18th as National Social Work Month and World Social Work Day and to highlight social workers and their impact on communities.
“As a professional social worker myself, I am proud of the contribution that social workers make to society,” said Congresswoman Lee. “My resolution promotes this critical profession within the House of Representatives and brings recognition to the incredible positive force that social workers are around the world.”
If enacted, the resolution will not only observe National Social Work Month and World Social Work Day, but would also formally acknowledge social workers and the diligent efforts of individuals who promote the importance of social work.
“This year, the theme of Social Work Month, is 'All People Matter' and I am honored to recognize the hundreds of thousands of social workers who use their collective power every day to affirm each individual, strengthen our nation's families and communities, to help people overcome adversity, and provide essential mental health care to all.”
