Barbara Lee Tells Labor Sec Chao To Support Funding For Green Job Training

(Washington, DC) – Congresswoman Barbara Lee (CA-9), who sits on the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Labor, Health and Human Services, Education today urged Secretary of Labor Elaine Chao to support full funding for the Green Jobs Workforce Training Program during a subcommittee hearing. She released the following statement:

“Green jobs are good for the economy and the environment. Investing in training for this emerging industry will add value to our nation’s efforts to develop renewable energy and energy efficiency, while at the same time stimulate the economy with job creation.

“As a Member of the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Labor, Health and Human Services, Education, I will continue to rally support for full funding for green jobs in the 2009 appropriations bill.”

Congresswoman Barbara Lee (CA-9) sits on the House Appropriations Committee, where she serves on the Labor, Health and Human Services, Education Subcommittee, the State Foreign Operations Subcommittee and is Vice-Chair of the Legislative Branch Subcommittee.
