Congresswoman Barbara Lee Announces August CODEL to Ethiopia, Uganda, and Zambia

Press Invited on Trip

Washington, DC – Congresswoman Barbara Lee (D-CA) today announced that she will be leading a bi-partisan Congressional Delegation (CODEL) to Ethiopia, Uganda, and Zambia August 21-29 to explore the devastation created by famine and the AIDS pandemic. These countries have been in the news lately, as the U.S. has been considering possible financial, humanitarian, and medical aid to this region.

“It is important that we learn first-hand about events occurring in these countries,” said Lee. “Over the next few years, the United States Congress will be more and more engaged with Africa, as we should have been all along. Now is the time to export knowledge and technical aid, in addition to humanitarian assistance.”

Journalists from American and African media outlets are invited to join the trip.
