"I am very honored to be chosen as Whip of the Congressional Black Caucus, and I congratulate all of the newly-elected officials of the Caucus," said Lee.
"In the face of a Republican majority, now more than ever, we must be unified in putting forth a strong voice for the issues that matter most to the Congressional Black Caucus and the entire nation," Lee said.
Before being elected CBC Whip, Congresswoman Lee had previously served two terms as a Democratic Regional Whip and currently serves as the Vice-Chair of the Progressive Caucus.
"I would like to thank the outstanding CBC leaders of the 107th Congress who have an exceptional record of achievement, said Lee. "I look forward to building on the those achievements during the 108th Congress."
