Congresswoman Barbara Lee Finalizes $17.4 Million for East Bay Projects in Government Funding Package
Washington, DC – Representative Barbara Lee (CA-12) voted to finalize $17,477,036 in community project funding that she secured for California’s 12th District in the Fiscal Year 2024 spending bills. This funding was included in the first of two Appropriations Committee minibus bills and responds directly to some of the most pressing needs in the East Bay.
"I recently voted to send over $17 million in Community Project Funding to the East Bay. I know this funding will have a profound impact on California’s 12th District, from investing in housing in San Leandro to community violence intervention programs in Oakland to the health of Lake Merritt,” said Rep. Lee. “Together, these investments will grow our economy and make a real difference in the lives of so many in our community. I am proud to have used my role on the Appropriations Committee to fight for a safer, healthier, stronger district.”
Rep. Lee championed funding for 14 projects that will directly benefit California’s 12th District residents. These include:

House Democrats were successful in removing harmful extreme House Republican policies from these bills that attempted to make abortion illegal everywhere, slash efforts to fight climate change, and threaten our national security. Instead, these final bipartisan 2024 funding bills will help keep our communities safe, fight inflation, and boost our economy. Taken together, the funding for California’s 12th District and the funding increases for critical government programs will continue to grow our local economy and support our communities.
This legislation was signed into law by President Biden last week. A detailed summary of the bill is available here.
