Congresswoman Barbara Lee Issues Statement on Series of Mass Shootings in California
Washington, DC – Congresswoman Barbara Lee issued the following statement after the shootings in Monterey Park, Half Moon Bay and Oakland, CA:
“24 hours ago we were mourning the tragic loss of life in Monterey Park, and now yet another mass shooting in Half Moon Bay and one in Oakland.
“I’m heartbroken for the families and loved ones of the victims. I’m mourning with them and sending my deepest condolences and prayers to them at this time.
“If we joined every other developed nation on earth in implementing common sense gun laws, we wouldn’t have to mourn tragedy after tragedy. Faith and prayer without action is meaningless. House Democrats have met the moment and passed critical gun reform in the 117th Congress. It is now on Republicans in both the House and Senate to stand up to the gun lobby and prevent the next tragedy.”
