Congresswoman Barbara Lee Issues Statement on the Closing of Berkeley Main Post Office

Today, Congresswoman Barbara Lee issued the following statement regarding the U.S. Postal Service’s decision to sell its historic downtown Berkeley building at 2000 Allston Way:
“I am incredibly disappointed that the U.S. Postal Service (USPS) decided to move forward with the sale of the Berkeley Main Post Office building and will fight to reverse this decision and halt the sale of this historically significant and iconic building.
“I strongly encourage Berkeley residents to participate in the public appeals process by sending letters to the U.S. Postal Service before the May 6, 2013 deadline.
“Letters should be sent to: Vice President, Facilities, Facilities Implementation – Pacific Area, 1300 Evans Ave. Ste. 200, San Francisco CA 94188-0200.”
