Congresswoman Barbara Lee Mourns the Loss of Four Fallen Oakland Police Officers

Washington D.C. – Congresswoman Barbara Lee (D-Oakland) released the following statement on Sunday evening upon learning of the passing of a fourth police Oakland Police officer who was gunned down on Saturday. The fourth officer was declared brain dead on Sunday:
“I was deeply saddened to learn of the death of the fourth Oakland police officer who was shot and killed in the line of duty on Saturday.
“The death of the four officers is an incomprehensible tragedy that is difficult for all of us to fathom, I extend my deepest sympathies to the family members of the four fallen officers. This is a difficult time for members of the Oakland Police Department, and my hearts goes out to the members who are forced to deal with the loss of their brothers.
"I have been in contact with Mayor Ron Dellums and acting Police Chief Howard Jordan, and I stand prepared to provide any support possible as these courageous officers struggle to deal with a level of grief that is unimaginable.”
