Congresswoman Barbara Lee Releases Statement Commemorating Jewish American Heritage Month
Washington, D.C – Congresswoman Barbara Lee issued the following statement in honor of Jewish American Heritage Month:
“This month, we honor Jewish Americans who have emboldened our Nation to strive for justice and equality and celebrate their invaluable contributions and accomplishments.”
“From the painful history of persistent persecution worldwide to frequent modern-day expressions of antisemitism, we must recognize the resilience of Jewish Americans and their continued fight against bigotry. Let’s use this month as an opportunity to expand on these efforts by recommitting ourselves to defending persons of all races, ethnicities, and religious creeds everywhere.”
“This Jewish American Heritage Month and beyond, we honor Jewish Americans who have throughout generations woven their achievements into the fabric of American society.”

Congresswoman Lee is a member of the House Appropriations Committee and Chair of the Subcommittee on State and Foreign Operations. She serves as Co-Chair of the Steering & Policy Committee, former Chair of the Congressional Black Caucus, Chair Emeritus of the Progressive Caucus, Co-Chair of the Congressional Asian Pacific American Caucus Health Task Force, and Co-Chair of the Pro-Choice Caucus. She also serves as Chair of the Majority Leader’s Task Force on Poverty and Opportunity. As a member of the House Democratic Leadership, she is the highest ranking Black woman in the U.S. Congress.
