Oakland, CA - Congresswoman Barbara Lee released the following statement after confirmed reports of ICE raids and arrests in Oakland:
“I am outraged and devastated by the heartless raids in Northern California, including Oakland, by Immigration and Customs Enforcement. These raids have torn families apart and instilled fear throughout our community. Make no mistake, these raids are a direct result of President Trump’s xenophobic, anti-immigrant agenda – an agenda I condemn and remain committed to resisting.
“But as we fight this president’s heartless policies it is important that every member of our community knows their rights. Now more than ever we must stand up, speak out and double down on our efforts to protect immigrant communities to and keep families together.”
