Congresswoman Barbara Lee to be Honored by Boston Women’s Fund

Will Receive Fund’s 2004 Take a Stand Award

Boston, Massachusetts – The Boston Women’s Fund tonight will bestow its 2004 Take A Stand Award on Congresswoman Barbara Lee (D-CA). The award will be given during the Boston Women’s Fund 20th anniversary dinner.

The Fund called Lee an “icon of strength and endurance, inspiring millions of Americans to take part in improving the quality of community and national life.” The Fund also said that Lee is receiving the award “for ensuring that freedom and justice issues always have a voice at the legislative table.”

“I am very honored to be recognized by the Boston Women’s Fund,” said Lee. “The Boston Women’s Fund has been a great example of how you make social change a mission, not just a goal, and they are living proof of the immense power of grass-roots activism. The Boston Women’s Fund empowers women and girls, and they change lives – in the process changing the system.”
