Congresswoman Barbara Lee to Celebrate Completion of 50-foot Dredging Project

Oakland – Congresswoman Barbara Lee (D-Oakland) will attend a ceremony celebrating the completion of the 50-foot Oakland Harbor Deepening Project on Friday, September 18, 2009 at Middle Harbor Shoreline Park, located off Middle Harbor Road and 7th Street, at the Oakland Seaport in Oakland, CA. The ceremony is scheduled to take place at 2 p.m.

In the past decade, Congresswoman Lee has played a vital role in helping to direct an estimated $270 million in federal funding to support the dredging project and operations and maintenance at the Port of Oakland. The completion of the project creates an opportunity for the Port of Oakland to maximize business opportunities and enhance the creation of jobs, while strengthening the Port’s position as an economic gateway for the West Coast.
