Congresswoman Barbara Lee to Receive KPFA’s Integrity Award

Oakland, California- On October 3 rd, radio station KPFA 94.1 will honor Congresswoman Barbara Lee with their Integrity Award. First Unitarian Church of Oakland will host the ceremony, where Congresswoman Lee, other award recipients and public officials will gather for the awards dinner. Other award recipients include Michael Franti, Father Bill O’Donnell, and Medea Benjamin.

KPFA presents Peace and Justice Awards to local leaders who resist and question dangerous politics of aggression and violence. The station chose to honor Representative Lee with the Integrity Award in light of her “unwavering commitment to peace, human rights and democracy.”

“I am honored to receive this award and do so on behalf of the people of the 9th Congressional district, who continue to be the most well-informed and forward-thinking constituency in the country.”

Congresswoman Lee has garnered several similar awards including the National Peacemaker Award (2003); the Wayne Morse Integrity in Government Award (2002); the Humanitarian Award from 45th Annual City Wide Revival (2002); the Sean MacBride Prize from the International Peace Bureau (2002); the Leifr Eriksson Peace Award from the Peace 2000 Institute (2002); and the Aachen Peace Prize from the Aachen Peace Foundation in Germany (2002).
