Congresswoman Barbara Lee Tours Children’s Fairyland
Oakland, CA—Congresswoman Barbara Lee (CA-12) visited Children’s Fairyland to celebrate the recent $1 million federal grant awarded for safety and infrastructure improvements at the park. Children’s Fairyland is one of 14 recipients of the $17.4 million in community project funding that Congresswoman Lee secured for the East Bay in Fiscal Year 2024. The funds will support upgrades to fencing, plumbing and other critical safety measures.
“Ensuring that our children have safe, enjoyable and high-quality spaces to learn, and play is a top priority,” said Congresswoman Barbara Lee. "When I was a student at Mills College I would bring my children here to play while I studied or worked on assignments. This investment not only supports the upkeep of Fairyland but reaffirms my commitment to fight for robust investments in the well-being of all families in the East Bay.”
"We were thrilled to welcome Congresswoman Barbara Lee back to Fairyland, a place she lovingly calls her ‘childhood babysitter,’ said Kymberly Miller, the executive director of Children’s Fairyland." As the park approaches its 75th anniversary, we are grateful for her stewardship in securing this critical and transformative infrastructure funding that will ensure Fairyland’s magic endures beyond the next 75 years."
