Oakland, CA – Today, Congresswoman Barbara Lee applauded President-elect Barack Obama on his nominations of Rep. Ray LaHood and Rep. Hilda Solis for the positions of Secretary of Transportation and Labor respectively. She released this statement:

“Once again, President-Elect Obama has made two excellent choices for his administration. Both Ray and Hilda have been close friends and allies of mine while in Congress and they bring a wealth of knowledge and experience to these posts.

“Rep. LaHood understands the importance of our transportation system and has supported crucial investments in passenger rail and public transportation. Rep. Solis and I have worked together in championing numerous labor causes including increasing the minimum wage. Additionally, we served together in the California State Senate where she chaired the Labor and Industrial Relations Committee of which I was a member.

“I am confident they will be an excellent addition to President-Elect Obama’s cabinet and will work tirelessly on behalf of the people of America.”
