Washington, D.C.– Congresswoman Barbara Lee (D-CA) released the following statement announcing that the White House Office of National Drug Control Policy (ONDCP) and the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) has awarded grants to three local organizations participating in the Drug Free Communities Support Program:

“I am pleased ONDCP and SAMHSA recognized the efforts of three East Bay community organizations by selecting them to receive important grant funding.  The continuation of $125,000 each in funding to the ACVPC’s Horizon Services program and the Castro Valley Community Action Network’s Await and Find project speaks to the extraordinary work that these coalitions are doing in their communities.  And, I believe that the $75,000 in new funding directed to the ACVPC to provide mentorship services to the Hayward Coalition for Healthy Youth will foster even greater collaboration and development to prevent alcohol, tobacco and marijuana use among youth in the 9th Congressional District.  I extend my heartfelt congratulations to these organizations and look forward to their future accomplishments and service to the East Bay community.”
