Oakland – Today, Congresswoman Barbara Lee (CA-09) issued the following statement upon learning of the passing of Bill Cavala:
“Today, we mourn the loss of a political pioneer and Democratic strategist who was considered by many the driving force in California politics for the past 40 years,” Congresswoman Lee said. “Bill Cavala was a dear friend and a universally respected political strategist who was the mastermind behind hundreds of successful state legislative and several congressional campaigns.
“Bill was known as the “Doctor” by those close to him because he possessed the unique ability to discuss and explain politics in simple yet reflective terms. Bill used that gift to educate and mentor many who were called into public service.
“Bill will be deeply missed by all. I offer my sincerest condolences to Bill’s family and to the many friends and associates whose lives he has touched over the years.”
