Congresswoman Lee Statement on the Passing of Father Jay Matthews
Oakland, CA – Congresswoman Lee released the following statement in response to news of the passing of Father Jay Matthews:
“It is with a heavy heart that I offer my prayers and extend condolences to Father Jay Matthews’ family, friends, the Roman Catholic Diocese of Oakland, and the Cathedral of Christ the Light congregation upon his passing. Father Jay and I were personal friends – and like for so many, he was there for me in good times and bad times.
“Father Jay lived a life of both faith and works – a life of love in service to others. We will miss his great wisdom. His passing is a loss for our entire community.
“On behalf of the 13th Congressional District, our deepest gratitude to Father Jay for a life well lived. He will be deeply missed. May he rest in peace.”
