Congresswoman Lee to Host Community Service Grants Workshop

Event is being held in conjunction with the Corporation for National and Community Service

Oakland – Congresswoman Barbara Lee (CA-09) – in conjunction with the Corporation for National and Community Service – will host a panel discussion and grants workshop at the East Bay Community Foundation’s (EBCF) James Irvine Foundation Conference Center located at 353 Frank H. Ogawa Plaza, Oakland CA on Tuesday, September 7, 2010. The panel discussion will be held from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m., and the grants workshop will take place from 11:15 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Panelists include Congresswoman Lee; Patrick Corvington, CEO for the Corporation for National and Community Service; Karen Baker, Secretary of Service and Volunteering for California Volunteers, and  Paul Olsen, Director of Experience Corps Bay Area.
 
The Corporation for National and Community Service is the nation’s largest grant-maker that supports service and volunteering through its Senior Corps, AmeriCorps, and Learn and Service Programs. It plays a vital role in supporting the American Culture of citizenship, service and responsibility and has been a catalyst for change and the champion for the ideal that every American has skills and talents to offer society.

A book drive to support the East Bay Children’s Book Project is the community service component of the workshop.
