Congresswoman Lee to Serve as Vice Chair of the Steering & Policy Committee
Washington, DC – Today, Congresswoman Barbara Lee was appointed to serve as Vice Chair of the Steering and Policy Committee.

The Steering and Policy Committee plays a key role in advancing committee assignments for Members and advising leadership. Additionally, the Steering and Policy Committee holds hearings on key issues ignored by the Republican majority and other House Committees including Zika, poverty and healthcare access.
Congresswoman Lee previously served on the Steering and Policy Committee as the regional representative for Northern California, Hawaii, American Samoa, Guam, Alaska and the Northern Mariana Islands.

Congresswoman Lee is a member of the Appropriations and Budget Committees, the Steering and Policy Committee, is a Senior Democratic Whip, former chair of the Congressional Black Caucus and co-chair of the Progressive Caucus. She serves as chair of the Democrat Whip Task Force on Poverty, Income Inequality and Opportunity.
