Oakland, CA– Congresswoman Barbara Lee (CA-09) announced today that four health agencies that provide services throughout the Bay Area will receive a total of $8.3 million in grant funding through the Health and Human Services.

Berkeley-based Lifelong Medical Care will receive a discretionary grant of $4,966,552, and Children’s Hospital and Research Center of Oakland will receive two discretionary grants totaling $2,913,505.

Other grant recipients include:

  • The Oakland-based La Clinica De La Raza, which will receive a $400,272 in HHS grant through the Affordable Care Act program.
  • And the Oakland-based Asian Health Services, which has been targeted to receive a HHS grant of $62,000 through the Affordable Care Act.

These grants will be dispersed incrementally between May 2012 and April 2015.

“I am pleased to announce that these four institutions have been targeted to receive this vital funding,” said Congresswoman Lee. “These fine institutions have historically provided a broad range of services to thousands of residents throughout the Bay Area, and this funding will allow them to expand the reach of their services for years to come.”
