WASHINGTON – Congresswoman Barbara Lee (CA-12), Ranking Member of the Appropriations Subcommittee on State and Foreign Operations and co-chair of the Congressional HIV/AIDS Caucus, recognized World AIDS Day by writing an op-ed in The Advocate.

In Congresswoman Lee’s op-ed, she acknowledged the tireless work of advocates and activists who have strategically worked to increase access to life-saving medications, fight stigma, and one day achieve an AIDS-free generation.

Their courage is the reason we continue to make strides in this fight. As I prepare to leave Congress at the end of the year, I take pride in having authored or co-authored every major piece of HIV/AIDS legislation, helped develop a global framework that has transformed global health, and has not let up once in this fight AIDS.”
