Lee Comments on the Passing of Sanjiv Handa

Oakland – Congresswoman Barbara Lee (CA-09) released the following statement upon learning of the passing of Oakland activist Sanjiv Handa:
“I am saddened to learn of the passing of Mr. Handa, who spent many years of his life attending every meeting at Oakland City Hall in the spirit of challenging the status quo and the city’s leadership to do what they could to best serve the residents of Oakland.
“Mr. Handa was a fixture in the community, known throughout the city of Oakland as a man who was determined to do all he could to improve the quality of life of the people of Oakland. Most importantly, Mr. Handa will be remembered for his unrelenting effort to holding public officials accountable for their actions and decisions.
“My thoughts and prayers go out to Mr. Handa’s family, his many friends and those with whom he worked closely over the years.”
