Lee, DeLauro Applaud Biden Administration’s Global Vaccine Distribution Plan
Washington, D.C. – Barbara Lee (D-CA-13), Chair of the House Appropriations Subcommittee on State, Foreign Operations, and Related Programs, and House Appropriations Committee Chair Rosa DeLauro (D-CT-03) released the following statement on President Joe Biden’s announcement that the United States plans to distribute 80 million U.S. COVID-19 vaccine doses globally by the end of June:
“As long as COVID-19 exists anywhere, it is a threat everywhere. The COVID-19 global distribution framework unveiled today by the Biden administration displays the American leadership necessary to end this pandemic.
“In close coordination with our global partners, sharing U.S. vaccine doses that would otherwise go unused and helping countries around the world boost capacity to manufacture vaccines will save lives and end this crisis.
“Many countries are still facing dire situations. As we have for more than a year now, we will continue our work on the House Appropriations Committee to make sure the United States responds with the necessary scale and urgency to defeat this pandemic and leads the way in the swift, equitable distribution of this vaccine around the world.”
