Oakland – Congresswoman Barbara Lee (D-Oakland) released the following statement today upon hearing news that Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords was among several people shot at an event in Tucson, AZ this morning:
"It is with the profound sadness that I have received word of the attack on Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords and her constituents.
“This is an unspeakable and reprehensible act of violence that should be condemed by all. My thoughts and prayers go out to Congresswoman Giffords’ family, her husband, Captain Mark Kelly, members of her staff, and her constituents. The families and loved ones as well as the constituents of Congresswoman Giffords will remain in our thoughts and prayers as we continue to learn more about this heinous act of violence.”
