Washington, D.C. – Today, Congresswoman Barbara Lee (D-Oakland) announced the release of over $30.4 million in funding from the U.S. Department of Transportation for two transportation-related projects in the Ninth Congressional District. The funding was made available through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009.  The awardees include:

Alameda-Contra Costa Transit District – $25.7 million:  For preventative maintenance and operating funds for ADA Paratransit Services.

Port of Oakland – $4.7 million:  To rehabilitate the east apron – or airport ramp – at the Oakland International Airport.

“I am pleased that the Ninth Congressional District of California will receive funding for these important projects,” Congresswoman Lee said. “It is critical that we continue to provide enhanced paratransit services for handicapped residents who depend on AC Transit. This funding will allow the Port of Oakland to continue to make the necessary upgrades at Oakland International Airport that improves services for the millions of passengers who use the airport annually.”
