Rep. Lee Statement on Senate Passage of Resolution Honoring Victims of Oakland Fire

Washington, DC – On Saturday, December 10th, the United States Senate passed S. Res 637, a resolution honoring the individuals who lost their lives in the tragic fire in Oakland, California on December 2nd, 2016. The resolution also commended the brave first responders who worked tirelessly under difficult conditions to bring comfort to the families of the victims. Congresswoman Barbara Lee released the following statement:

“I want to thank the Senate for passing this resolution in memory of the victims of this tragic fire,” said Congresswoman Barbara Lee (D-Oakland). “My deepest condolences and prayers remain with the victims’ families and their loved ones during this anguishing time. As we begin the difficult healing process, it is gratifying to know that our city has the support of communities around the country.”

"I also want to express my gratitude to California Senators Diane Feinstein and Barbara Boxer for championing this resolution in the Senate and working with my office, state officials and the city of Oakland to secure all necessary federal resources for recovery and rebuilding efforts," added Congresswoman Lee.
