The National Endowment for the Humanities Awards Grants Supporting Educational Projects in the 9th Congressional District

Washington D.C. – Congresswoman Barbara Lee (D-CA) released the following statement today announcing that the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) has awarded three grants totaling $273,302 to support projects in the 9thCongressional District that exemplify extraordinary standards in educational research:
 
“These grants are extremely competitive and are awarded to groups that are engaged in educational projects that meet NEH’s exceptionally high standards. I couldn’t be more pleased that these groups have been awarded the grants that will allow them to pursue their important projects.” 
 
The Oakland-based Friends of Peralta Hacienda Historic Park was awarded a $175,302 grant to support its project, titled: “Spanish, Mexican, and American California: Reframing U.S. History at the Peralta Hacienda.”
 
The Mangalam Research Center for Buddhist Languages in Berkeley received a $25,000 digital start-up grant for its “Buddhist Translators Workbench” project, and the Katahdin Foundation, also located in Berkeley, was awarded a $75,000 grant for its “Geographies of Kinship: The Korean Adoption Story” project.
