Congresswoman Lee Responds to Special Counsel’s Judiciary Committee Testimony

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Today, in response to Special Counsel Mueller’s testimony to the House Judiciary and Intelligence Committees, Congresswoman Barbara Lee released the following statement:

“At this morning’s hearings, Special Counsel Mueller made it clear – despite what President Trump has falsely insisted – that his report did not exonerate the President of obstruction of justice. Mueller made it clear that there was evidence to support that charge, but the Department of Justice was not in a position to indict because he is a sitting President.

“Trump used ‘mob-style’ tactics to obstruct the Mueller investigation, abuse executive power and tamper with witnesses. I remain convinced that it is Congress’ responsibility to follow the facts of the Muller investigation, and hold the President accountable for his unparalleled abuses of power and corruption.

“I continue to call on my congressional colleagues to begin impeachment inquiries. No one is above the law, including this President, and Congress must hold Trump accountable.”
