Congressional Pro-Choice Leaders Mark the Anniversary of Roe v. Wade

Washington, D.C. – Today, U.S. Reps. Barbara Lee (D-CA) and Diana DeGette (D-CO), co-chairs of the Congressional Pro-Choice Caucus, released the following statement marking the 47th anniversary of the Supreme Court’s landmark Roe v. Wade decision:

“For 47 years, Roe v. Wade has protected Americans' right to reproductive care. But today, that right is under attack – and there is no bigger threat than the current makeup of the Supreme Court.

“From Trump’s dangerous Gag Rule to the wave of new abortion bans sweeping the country, anti-choice politicians and conservative groups across the country are threatening Americans’ access to comprehensive reproductive care.

“Everyone — regardless of race, income, or zip code — should have access to the health care they need, and the right to decide what’s best for their body and their family.

“Today and every day, our caucus will fight with everything we have to expand reproductive rights and ensure Roe v. Wade remains the law of the land. Because abortion care is health care, and health care is a human right.”
