Congresswoman Barbara Lee Introduces Resolution in Support of Victims of Hurricane Dorian
Washington, D.C. – Yesterday, Congresswoman Barbara Lee introduced House Resolution 562 - a bipartisan resolution expressing condolences and long-term support for the people of the Bahamas in the aftermath of Hurricane Dorian.
“My heart is with the people of the Bahamas who were devastated by Hurricane Dorian, and I want to thank the first responders and officials who risked their lives to help their neighbors and communities. In the days to come, we must continue to work together to ensure that the families impacted by the storm receive the aid that they need. According to the Red Cross, 45 percent of homes on Grand Bahama and the Abacos island have been destroyed.
“As we begin to rebuild and recover in the wake of this horrific disaster, I urge my colleagues in Congress, and our allies around the world, to assist the people of the Bahamas in their recovery effort. That is why I am pleased to introduce, with 36 original co-sponsors, this bipartisan resolution for the U.S. Congress to work diligently to help the people of the Bahamas by providing as much support as possible.
“As Vice-Chair of the State, Foreign Operations, and Related Agencies Appropriations Sub-Committee, I am committed to providing humanitarian assistance the people of the Bahamas at a time they most urgently need it.”
