Congresswoman Barbara Lee Urges President Trump to Recertify Iran Deal
Washington, D.C. – This week, Congresswoman Barbara Lee joined more than 180 members of the House Democratic Caucus in sending a letter to President Trump reiterating support for the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) and urging the White House to recertify Iran’s compliance with the deal.
“The Iran Deal, negotiated over the course of several years, is the gold standard for international diplomacy. Because of this agreement, we have reduced the threat of war and made the world a safer place,” said Congresswoman Lee. “All evidence shows that Iran is honoring its commitments under the deal. Especially in these contentious times, it would be a grave mistake for the United States to abandon our allies and walk away. President Trump should recertify this deal.”
Congresswoman Lee, who serves as the Chair of the Congressional Progressive Caucus’ Peace and Security Task Force, has been a leading advocate for increased diplomacy with Iran since entering Congress. The full letter is available here.
