Washington, DC - Today, Congresswoman Barbara Lee (D-CA) introduced H.Con.Res. 270, a resolution calling on the United States Government to investigate the case of Tristan Anderson. A resident of Oakland, CA, Mr. Anderson was critically injured on March 13, 2009, after being struck by a tear gas canister fired by Israeli Border Police while engaging in peaceful protest activities in the West Bank village of Ni’lin.

“More than a year after Tristan Anderson’s injury, serious questions remain regarding the circumstances that led to this tragic event.”

“This resolution calls for the completion of a full, fair, and expeditious investigation by the U.S. government, as well as increased cooperation and transparency between the U.S. and the Government of Israel regarding this case.”

“It is with great urgency that we must seek accountability in this matter, and most importantly, ensure that such an unfortunate event does not occur again.”

“My resolution expresses support and sympathy to Tristan Anderson, his family and friends during this trying time. Our thoughts and prayers remain with Tristan and his loved ones as he continues to recover from his injuries.”
