Congresswoman Lee Responds to North Bay Fires
Oakland, CA - Congresswoman Barbara Lee released the following statement in response to the outbreak of wildfires in the North Bay:
My thoughts and prayers are with the victims whose lives have been devastated by the horrible North Bay fires and I thank the brave first responders whose courage has helped save countless lives and protected homes & businesses. At a time in our nation when the damage from natural disasters are at an all-time high, Congress must ensure all federal disaster relief efforts are readily available and easily accessible to those in need of our support.
As a member of the Appropriations Committee, I will continue fighting to ensure the necessary resources are available in these circumstances. This week, Congress will be voting on a Supplemental Appropriations bill, which will increase funding for emergency disaster assistance, including wildfires. This is an important first step and I will continue to fight to ensure that our communities have ample support to recover and rebuild after such devastating tragedies.
