Lee Urges Burmese Regime To Allow Humanitarian Assistance

Washington, DC – Congresswoman Barbara Lee issued the following statement today about recovery from the devastating cyclone in Burma:

“My heart and prayers go out to the millions of people affected by this tremendous natural disaster.  

“Burma's military junta failed to warn or aid its people in advance of the storm and is now failing to respond to the disaster.  The international community stands ready to respond and I join in the calls for the brutal Burmese junta to allow the free flow of assistance to its people and to end its obstruction of international aid and aid workers.”
