Rep. Lee Calls for AUMF Repeal Vote Following Mattis, Tillerson Senate Testimony

Washington, D.C. – Congresswoman Barbara Lee released the following statement after the testimony of Secretary of Defense James Mattis and Secretary of State Rex Tillerson regarding the Authorization for the Use of Military Force and the tragic attacks in Niger:

“Congress has been missing in action on matters of war and peace for far too long. In the absence of any meaningful congressional oversight, the executive branch has escalated an unchecked and endless war.

“It’s past time for us to do our constitutional duty and restore checks and balances on our military operations. Our brave men and women in uniform deserve no less from Congress.”
